During my travels I have developed this fascination with birds. They catch my eye instantly and hold it, like the divine creatures they are.
Do you ever experience that? A moment when you suddenly notice birds flying around and can’t help but watch them in awe? Never before had I been so intrigued by these feathered beings. Yet somehow, during this journey, my gaze is constantly drawn to them. To all kinds of birds: the small, colorful ones dancing together on the branches of a tree, the big black crows picking at scraps near fishermen’s boats, or the massive eagles circling high above, searching for prey.
They are wild creatures, living alongside us humans. Observing them brings me back to the essence of life. When I watch birds I feel connected to nature. My body exhales and roots itself, as if in a flash I am flung back to the soil beneath my feet, utterly aware of every detail. Colors blaze brighter, outlines grow bolder, and the world reveals itself in vivid strokes my eyes drink in. The birds glide above me, wings carved wide against the sky, surrendering to the elements in effortless grace.
Perhaps what captivates me is correlated to a shift I have noticed within myself. The birds no longer echo my old longing to fly toward freedom. Instead, they embody the clarity of being awake. Their movements sharpen my gaze, teaching me how to move with the rhythm of the elements. Honestly, for the first time in my life I am considering to become a professional bird watcher.
